What is cosmetic dentistry?
The focus of cosmetic dentistry is the appearance of your teeth and smile. Cosmetic dentistry is more of an art than science, but it can include restorative dentistry options.
Cosmetic and restorative dentistry often overlap. The difference is that cosmetic dentistry takes restorations beyond function by utilizing dental materials to create the best smile possible.
At Bright Smile Dental, we offer several treatments that not only fix your structural problems but give you results that match your idea of a perfect smile. Dr. de la Paz pays attention to every detail involved in your smile and has the ability to imagine and achieve your dream smile.
What cosmetic dentistry options does Bright Smile Dental offer?
Dental treatments that focus on the appearance and aesthetics of your smile are considered cosmetic. While some treatments also restore function, others are only intended to improve your appearance.
Treatment options include:
- Teeth whitening
- Dental bonding
- Porcelain crowns
- Veneers
- Dental bridges
- Tooth-colored fillings
Teeth Whitening
When performed in-office, teeth whitening can whiten teeth up to eight shades lighter. While several appointments may be required to achieve maximum results, even one treatment produces dramatic differences.
If you prefer at-home whitening, Dr. de la Paz will make you a customized tray based on impressions of your teeth. This allows for a perfect fit that provides better results than “one-size-fits-all” generic trays in do-it-yourself kits. Because of the custom fit, these trays are less messy and keep the gel on the teeth and off the gums, reducing irritation and pain from the bleaching agent.
Dental Bonding
Similar to fillings, dental bonding involves the use of tooth-colored resin to hide teeth imperfections. Bonding is used to fill in gaps, change the color or shape of a tooth or teeth, and close spaces between teeth. It can also protect a tooth root that is exposed due to gum recession.
After Dr. de la Paz prepares the tooth, he secures the bonding material to the affected tooth. He then cleans and polishes it to ensure a natural finish.
Porcelain Crowns
Fabricated dental crowns are tooth-shaped caps that replace the natural crown of your tooth. While crowns have many restorative dentistry uses, they also offer beautiful results in cosmetic dentistry.
Do you have a tooth that is severely discolored, misshapen, chipped, or cracked? A composite dental crown looks just like a natural tooth and is a quick fix when one tooth or a few teeth are the problem.
Veneers
If you have several problem teeth, veneers might be your best option. To give the most natural look, veneers are made of tooth-colored porcelain. They are wafer-thin and cover for the front surface of teeth.
Have you ever been impressed by a Hollywood smile? Chances are, you are looking at a smile improved by veneers. This treatment offers an immediate, stunning improvement in your smile.
Dental Bridges
Dental bridges are used to replace a missing tooth or teeth. This treatment option includes the placement of crowns on teeth on each side of the gap to anchor the bridge in place. The bridge contains one to three artificial teeth, called pontics, that fill the void left behind by a missing tooth or teeth.
Tooth-Colored Fillings
Gone are the days of showing off dark-colored amalgam fillings when you smile and laugh. At Bright Smile Dental, we offer composite resin tooth-colored fillings that match your natural teeth. We can also remove metal fillings and replace them with composite resin fillings.
